Packing boxes

Here are some simple tips for packing smaller objects, particularly fragile items, into the boxes we supply.

Unpack the boxes

Your boxes start flat-packed, so your first task is to securely set up each box. Having unfolded each, turn them upside down and tape along the join.

Making the box

Now tape across the join to make sure the contents cannot fall out.

Securing the box

Wrapping

Wrap fragile items in crate paper to help protect them.

Placement

Carefully place the items into your box, making sure they are a good fit. Obviously you should always place fragile items on top and ideally avoid stacking items on top of one another. The lid of the box must be able to close and lie flat.

Filling

Fill any remaining space in the box with loose fill to stop items moving around during transit.

Finishing

Secure the top of the box in the same way as you secured the tape. Nothing should stick out of the box. Mark the box with the name of the room to which you want it delivering. It is usually a good idea to add a brief list of the box contents too.
